Feeling Lighter: 4-Week Journey of Letting Go Through Daoist Practice

My 4 week adventure in China has come to an end but I leave feeling lighter (i hope!😆) yet fuller (including belly and suitcase) as I take back with me an unforgettable experience and a treasure trove of practices taught to us with so much care, precision and patience by our amazing shifu @taichi.zidong.ins

Many of the movements in 5 elements qi gong were new to us, but he broke them down clearly into smaller segments, giving us time to digest them.


The main lessons I have learned are:

1. Real power is unleashed through complete relaxation.

There is a Taoist saying

“Sōng yī sōng, bǎi mài tōng”
Loosen up, and all meridians will be unblocked

Relaxation doesn’t mean lying on a couch watching tv- it means bringing your mind back to the body and relaxing the mind and body together. The practices shifu taught us were life changing for me

2. Tune into your body’s internal sat nav- it will always guide you back to balance

3. I can survive on black tea without milk or sugar!!
🤣-it is actually delicious!
