The Course is designed because:

The liver is wood in the five elements, which promotes the vigorous growth and expansion of the body's life energy. It has the following functions:

  • Promote the growth and development of energy in the body, just like trees that always grow upward. If bad emotions accumulate in the body, it will suppress the growth of energy and the body will lose vitality.

  • Store and regulate blood in the body. When exercising, blood flows from the liver to the limbs. When lying down to rest, blood returns from the limbs to the liver, and the liver rests. Therefore, people with poor liver need to lie down and rest more.

  • Digestive function. the liver is responsible for secreting bile and digesting meat. If you have abdominal distension and diarrhea after eating meat, it is often because your liver function has declined and it does not secrete enough bile.

  • Eliminate toxins. The liver is responsible for decomposing toxins, drugs and foreign substances such as alcohol in food. Excessive drugs or alcohol can damage the liver.

Liver in Traditional Chinese Medicine theory:

The liver is a system.

  • The liver and gallbladder are brothers,in charge of ligaments and tendons throughout the body.
  • Nails can reflect the function of the liver. Brittle nails, vertical lines, and loss of luster represent a decline in liver function.
  • The eyes are connected to the liver. When the liver function declines and cannot store enough blood, vision will decrease and the eyes will become dull.
  • Being in a state of anger and stress for a long time can damage the liver.
  • Insufficient liver function may cause you to wake up easily in the middle of the night.

How to maintain liver system?

Liver lies deep in the body and we can't reach it, however according to the theory of TCM, we can exercise the liver in many ways, to improve the energy of the liver, and help the liver health.

  • The rib area is the house where the liver lives. Unobstructed blood in the ribs is beneficial to liver health.

  • Dredging the liver meridians is very beneficial to liver health. The liver meridian starts from the big toe, runs along the midline of the calf and inner thigh, passes through the groin, genitals, abdomen and ends at the liver.

  • When the liver is sick, garbage will accumulate in the armpits. Cleaning the garbage will help restore liver function.

  • Bile is the channel through which the liver excretes garbage. It promotes bile secretion and clears the bile ducts, which helps the health of the liver.

  • Clear away anger and depression and protect the liver.

  • Often looking at green is good for the health of your eyes and liver, so the text color of the course is green.

  • Musically, “Jue” tone of Chinese Guqin is good for the liver; So we chose it as the BGM for the course.

  • Sourness is good for liver health.

  • The best season to liver care is spring.

  • Go to bed early so that the liver can rest during sleep. Before 10pm.

  • No drink or less drink of alcohol, reduce the burden on the liver.

          Ive only just started this but it is excellent

          Yet another gem from Master Zidong that targets specifically to improve the Liver function. The exercises are clearly explained. I enjoy this practice very much. I complete it with the Full Body Practice, the Acupoint Vibration and the Evening routine. My eyes are more ‘open’ and clear, and I have definitely more calmness in daily stressful situations, it’s like gaining an inner calm. I do recommend this practice even if you do not have a liver issues. Because simply the stress from our daily lives affects our liver and these exercises will help you to keep your Liver healthy.

          Chipping away at my stress level

          The postures are a mix of stretches, patting and animated movements. While the stretches feel so good, the posture that is really effective if I am uptight about something , is the Hum/Ha shouting one. What I have noticed as well is that my eye an are less itchy, my face complexion looks more dewy, I assume from an improved functioning liver. I practise daily.
